The Lead: Seven different Maroons scored as Roanoke rolled to an 8-1 win at Southern Virginia Wednesday night.
 
How it Happened: 
  • Brandon Bauer gave Roanoke an early 1-0 lead with a goal just under three minutes into the contest.
  • Seven minutes later, Philani Mlotshwa doubled RC's lead off a corner kick from Bauer.
  • Marc Hoppler scored a header off a corner from Marshall Hodge at 13:57 before Jose Robertson scored at the 18-minute mark to make it a 4-0 game.
  • Kelby Zeiger and Ezra Zigarwi both found the back of the net to close out the first half and give Roanoke a 6-0 lead.
  • In the second half, Anthony Wisdo scored off a pass from Eli Betz in the 65th minute.
  • Zigarwi rounded out the scoring with a goal off a penalty shot for his second score of the night.
  • SVU's Nathan Maloney put the Knights on the board with a header at the with ten minutes left in the contest.
  • RC held a 32-4 advantage in shots and a 9-1 edge in corners.  Nick Tadros and Alex Sullivan each made one save on the night while Colin Flynn made eight for the Knights. 
  • Roanoke's eight goals is the most in a game since the Maroons defeated Bridgewater 9-1 in 2009.
