The Lead: A second-half strike lifted Roanoke to a 2-1 win at Guilford Wednesday night in ODAC action.

How it Happened:

  • Jon-Cody Mactutus found the back of the net with six minutes left in the first half to give Roanoke a 1-0 lead. 
  • The Maroons rattled off four more shots in the final five minutes of the half but were unable to double their lead, entering the intermission with a 1-0 edge.
  • Guilford evened the game with a strike from Ricky Aguilar at the 53-minute mark to make it 1-1.
  • Marshall Hodge scored the game-winner off a penalty kick to the left side of the net to give Roanoke a 2-1 advantage with 27 minutes left in regulation. 
  • RC's defense held strong as Nick Tadros only had to make one save on the night. Zach Van Kampen made four saves in goal for the Quakers.
  • Roanoke owned a 22-6 advantage in shots, not allowing a Guilford shot in the final 26 minutes of play. The Maroons also took five corner kicks on the night while Guilford took four.
