Men's Soccer to Host Cancer Awareness Match on Oct. 12

Salem, Va. – Roanoke Men's Soccer will be hosting a Cancer Awareness game on Saturday, October 12 against Shenandoah at 7 p.m in Salem.

The Maroons will be playing for Cadin's Cure, a cause that holds close to the Roanoke Men's Soccer Program as Team Impact player, Cadin Byrd is a member of the squad. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in the Spring of 2017. 

Roanoke will be wearing lavender jerseys to increase awareness of all cancers as well as Hodgkin's Lymphoma which is represented by a violet ribbon.

The PUMA Lavender Cadin's Cure game jerseys worn will be sold for $50 with the proceeds going to Cadin's Cure.

Roanoke is teaming up with the Byrd Family to increase awareness not only for cancer but for Cadin's Cure, a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on injecting hope into the lives of children diagnosed with cancer. 

Cadin officially signed with Roanoke Men's Soccer on September 22, 2017, through Team IMPACT which is a program that improves the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illness through the power of team. You may have seen him on the sidelines or meeting with the officials for the coin toss as he is an active member with the team.

Prior to the game, the entire Men's Soccer Team, as well as the entire Roanoke Athletics community, will recognize Cadin for all the contributions he has made throughout the past three years and celebrate that he is CANCER FREE!
