How it Happened:

  • The first 45 minutes of play saw no one score, with Zach Behe making three saves for the Maroons in net as the Generals held a 9-4 edge in shots.
  • At the 66:31 mark, RC committed a foul in the box and W&L was awarded a penalty kick in which Seth Chapman converted to give the Generals a 1-0 lead.
  • The score stayed that way until RC forced a corner kick which Dylan Berk played into the box and Joe Carman was able to head the ball into the back of the net to knot the match a 1-1.
  • Roanoke had a chance to go ahead with three minutes remaining in regulation when Luca Kuettel ripped off a shot on the right side of the field from 25 yards out but the shot hit the cross-bar and the game remained tied.
  • Washington and Lee held a 24-11 lead in shots and held a 10-7 edge in corner kicks.
  • Behe finished with six saves, including a pair of key stops in the second overtime. Michael Nyc had two saves for the Generals.
