Carman Named Defensive Player of the Year

Carman, Camilleri, and Jerrild named VaSID All State

The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their Men's Soccer All State Teams on Wednesday afternoon. A trio of Maroons were named All State by the organization, headlined by Joe Carman being named Defensive Player of the Year. Carman was named to the first team as a defender with forward Liam Camilleri and midfielder Chris Jerrild earning spots on the 2nd team.

Carman was named to the 1st team as a defender after earning All Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) 1st team honors for the first time. Carman helped anchor a Roanoke defense that recorded a league best .68 goals against per game while posting a league high six shutouts. For his efforts Carman was named VaSID Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year.

Camilleri was named 2nd team All State for the second consecutive year. This season, Camilleri finished the season as the ODAC's 10th leading goal scorer with three goals and earned a spot on the All ODAC 2nd team.

Jerrild earned his first VASID All state award, being named to the 2nd team as a midfielder. Jerrild had two goals and an assist, earning All ODAC 2nd team honors. In the Maroon's quarterfinal win at #2 Washington and Lee, Jerrild netted the game winner and was named to the ODAC Men's Soccer All Tournament Team.
