Roanoke Ranked Fifth in ODAC Men's Cross Country Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – Roanoke was tabbed fifth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's cross country preseason poll, the league announced earlier this week.

Washington and Lee earned the top spot with eight first place votes and 98 points. Bridgewater took second with two first-place votes and 90 points followed by Lynchburg in third with one first place vote and 80 points. Eastern Mennonite was voted fourth with 74 points followed by Roanoke in fifth with 65 points. Shenandoah (51 pts) was ranked sixth, Virginia Wesleyan (44 pts) seventh, Emory & Henry (40 pts) eighth and Randolph (40 pts) ninth. Guilford (21 pts) and Hampden-Sydney (20 pts) rounded out the poll in tenth and eleventh, respectively.

The Maroons finished the 2015 season with a fourth place finish in the ODAC championship and 12th in the NCAA Regional championship meet.

Howard Daniels and Kevin Waterman enter their junior campaigns as the top-returners for Roanoke after posting the team's second and third best times at the 2015 conference championships.

In his first year at the helm, head coach Kirk Nauman will kick off the 2016 slate, Thursday, September 1 with a home race against Emory and Henry.
