Five Maroons earn All-ODAC honors in Softball
Five softball players were named to the 2011 All-ODAC Team announced this afternoon. Leona Rainey (Sandston, VA, Mills Godwin) was tabbed with first-team honors for the second-straight season, while freshman Stephanie Clark (Nathalle, VA, Halifax) joined her on that list. Hollee Warlitner (Clifton Forge, VA, Alleghany) and Lisa Scruggs (Madison Heights, VA, Holy Cross) earned second-team accolades while Lis Norwich (Hegins, PA, Tri-Valley) was voted honorable mention.

Rainey, a sophomore centerfielder, broke her own school-record for most stolen bases in a season with an ODAC-best, 32. She has 62 career stolen bases, ranked fifth all-time at Roanoke. The 2010 NFCA Third-Team All-Region selection led the ODAC in batting (.455), runs (43) and on base percentage (.521). She led the Maroons in hits (55) and walks (15) in addition to six doubles and 14 RBI.

Clark, the only freshman on the team, earned the utility spot on the first-team as she split duties in both the outfield and at pitcher. She carried an ODAC-best 0.85 ERA in eight appearances with a 4-2 record on the mound. She struck out 34 batters in 33 innings while playing a part in two shutouts. At the plate, Clark batted .320 in 38 games, making 35 starts with 32 hits, seven doubles and 16 RBI. She also scored 16 times and drew 13 walks.

Warlitner earned her second-consecutive All-ODAC plaque after batting .374 and starting in all 38 games. She was second in hits (46), home runs (3), stolen bases (8) and total bases (68), but led the Maroons in RBI with 34 and at bats (123). She finished among the top-10 in the ODAC in triples (6th), RBI (7th) and led the conference with six sacrifice flies with six.

Scruggs capped her career with back-to-back all-conference honors in the designated hitter slot. She led the ODAC in home runs (8) and slugging percentage (.762) while sixth in batting (.416) and on base percentage (.478). She finished her final collegiate season second on the team in doubles (11), runs (35), RBI (31) but led her squad in total bases (77).

Norwich earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career as a pitcher, but also played at first base this season. The senior had a 2.36 ERA with a 7-3 record in 14 appearances, making 12 starts. In 71.1 innings, she had a team-best seven complete games with two shutouts and 48 strikeouts. At the plate, Norwich batted .312 with 29 hits, 19 runs four doubles and 14 RBI. She made 32 starts in 34 games this spring.

The Maroons finished 27-11 overall, 12-6 in conference play and earned a #3 seed in the ODAC Tournament.
