In the past week, the Maroons have gone 3-1. On Friday, March 29th Roanoke took two games over Eastern Mennonite on the road, winning 2-1 and 9-1. On Tuesday, April 2nd, the Maroons split a pair of games against NAIA opponent, Virginia Intermont College. The Maroons fell in the first game 13-2, but rallied in the second for a 4-0 win.
Leona Rainey has the top batting average on the squad, hitting .439 so far this season. Alea Bier is second on the team, hitting .417. Bier ranks among the top-5 in the ODAC in many statistical categories. Bier ranks first in walks (18), third in doubles (8), fourth in on-base percentage (.578), and fifth in stolen bases (12). Alexis Roop and Stephanie Clark lead the team in home runs, hitting five each.
Clark is also 8-1 inside the circle, pitching 2.26 throwing six complete games. Sophomore Kelly Higbie has a 7-4 record with a 2.05 mark. Higbie leads the team with 41 strikeouts, while Clark has struck out 38 batters.
The Maroons are back in action on Wednesday, April 3rd as they play Emory & Henry at the Moyer Complex. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
