Game 2
Score: Roanoke 8 | Eastern Mennonite 0 (six innings)

Location: Harrisonburg, Va.

The Lead: Teresa Wagner allowed only three hits en route to Roanoke's shutout win over Eastern Mennonite in game two.

How it Happened:

  • Roanoke scored three runs in the top of the second as Kendall Penn singled to center and then scored on an EMU error along with Kate Priester to take a 2-0 lead. Taylor Carter closed the inning with an RBI, scoring Marlene Carlson.
  • In the top of the fifth, Anna Clowdis hit an infield single to score Wagner who led off the inning with a walk. Mattie Morris and Priester both drove in one run to extend the lead to 6-0.
  • A triple from Katie Smith in the top of the sixth plated Carter and Bailey Perdue to close out the scoring.
  • Wagner allowed only three hits while striking out three in the shutout performance. Sydney Reath was tabbed with the loss allowing five runs off three hits in 4.1 innings of work.

The Lead: Eastern Mennonite scored off a two-run homer in the bottom of the eight to take game one. 

How it Happened:

  • Priester recorded the only Roanoke hit of the game with a single to center in the fifth inning.
  • After seven scoreless innings, pinch runner Scarlett Sisson was placed on second to start the international tie-breaker situation but the Maroons were unable to push a run across to keep it a 0-0 game.
  • Sydney Reath hit a two-run homer with two outs for the walk-off win.
  • Emily Salsberry was tabbed with the loss allowing only two runs off seven hits while striking out seven in 7.2 innings of work.
  • For the Royals, Kelsi Martin earned the win allowing only one hit in eight innings.
