The Lead: Roanoke scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-3 win in game two. 

How it Happened:

  • After two scoreless innings, Erin Anderson hit a two-out triple and then scored on a wild pitch in the next at bat to give Emory & Henry a 1-0 lead.
  • Roanoke tied it up as Ruthie Williams reached on an error before Kate Priester hit a double down the left field line. Williams then scored on a Wasp error to even it at 1-1.
  • E&H used a double from Caitlyn Yates followed by a single from Caley Hodge to score a pair of runs in the top of the fifth and take a 3-1 edge.
  • Roanoke loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning following a walk from Taylor Carter and a single from Katie Smith. Williams hit a single up the middle scoring Carter and Smith to make it 3-3.
  • Later in the inning, Kendall Penn singled to the shortstop to score Williams as the go ahead run and give RC a 4-3 lead.
  • Teresa Wagner allowed only one hit in the final two innings to secure the win. Wagner allowed only three runs off seven hits while striking out five in the complete game performance.

The Lead: Emory & Henry scored four runs in the first three innings to earn a 4-0 win in the opener. 

How it Happened:

  • Emory & Henry opened the game with back-to-back singles before Leah Elswick doubled, scoring Erin Anderson and Caitlyn Yates to take an early 2-0 lead.
  • With two outs in the top of the second, Anderson hit a triple to right field to plate Lyndsay Boyd to extend the advantage to 3-0. The Wasps added a run in the third off an RC error to make it 4-0.
  • Tiffany Cole earned the win allowing only four hits in the complete game performance.
  • Emily Salsberry was tabbed with the loss giving up three runs off five hits before giving way to Ruthie Williams who allowed only one run off one hit in the final 5.1 innings.
  • Anna Clowdis led the way, going 2-for-3 for the Maroons. Anderson and Yates both went 2-for-4 for E&H.
