The Basics

Game 1
Score: Roanoke 5, Ferrum 3
Records: Roanoke 13-9, 3-2 ODAC | Ferrum 12-9, 2-3 ODAC
Location: Ferrum, Va.

The Lead: Roanoke scored three total runs in the final two innings to take game one 5-3 over Ferrum.

How it Happened:

  • The Maroons took a 2-0 lead following a two-run homer from Meagan Evans in the top of the second.
  • With the scored 2-1 RC, Ferrum scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth off a home run from Lois Carpenter and an RBI double from Cheyenne Strickland to take a 3-2 advantage.
  • Serenity Bishop scored what proved to be the game-winner with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth.
  • Roanoke added another run in the top of the seventh off a double from Brooke Trapuzzano to push ahead 5-3.
  • Evans was 3-for-3 while Anna Clowdis and Bishop were both was 2-for-3 to lead the Roanoke offense.
  • Teresa Wagner earned the win allowing only seven hits in the complete game performance.

 

Game 2
Score: Roanoke 18, Ferrum 14
Records: Roanoke 14-9, 4-2 ODAC | Ferrum 12-10, 2-4 ODAC
Location: Ferrum, Va.

The Lead: The Maroons secured the game two win with eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to earn the sweep.

How it Happened:

  • In a game that saw multiple runs scored in eight half innings, Roanoke used an eight-run top of the sixth inning to break away with the lead.
  • Meagan Evans busted open the scoring with a two-run homer in the top of the second to make it 2-0 RC.
  • A two-RBI double from Rebecca Hensley and an RBI single from Serenity Bishop made it a 7-2 game in the top of the fourth.
  • With the score 8-3 Roanoke in the bottom of the fifth, Ferrum scored six runs off four hits and two Maroon errors to take a 9-8 lead.
  • Roanoke responded with eight runs of their own in the top of the sixth off seven hits, highlighted by a 2 RBI double from Evans, making it a 16-9 game.  
  • The Panthers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run home run from Bailey Oakes but that was as close as the Panthers would get.
  • Rebecca Hensley was 4-for-6 with three RBI and four runs scored. Kate Priester was 3-for-5 and Evans had a team-high four RBI.
  • For FC Oakes was 4-for-5 with four RBI and Bayley Cunningham was 3-for-5.
