The Basics

Game 1
Score: No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan 2, Roanoke 0
Records: Roanoke 17-17, 6-9 ODAC | Virginia Wesleyan 30-2, 14-1 ODAC
Location: Virginia Beach, Va.

The Lead: Virginia Wesleyan held Roanoke hitless en route to a 2-0 win in game one. 

How it Happened:

  • Hanna Hull did not allow a hit in seven innings while striking out 16 to keep Roanoke off the board.
  • After three scoreless innings, VWU had a leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth before Jessica Goldyn hit a double before scoring on an error in the same play to make it a 1-0 game.
  • The Marlins added another run in the sixth off a triple from Julia Sinnett, plating Madison Glaubke.
  • Teresa Wagner was credited with the loss giving up five hits and two runs in the complete game performance. 

Game 2
Score: No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan 8, Roanoke 0 (5 innings)
Records: Roanoke 17-18, 6-10 ODAC | Virginia Wesleyan 31-2, 15-1 ODAC
Location: Virginia Beach, Va.

The Lead: The Marlins took an 8-0 win over Roanoke in game two. 

How it Happened:

  • Virginia Wesleyan scored one run in the first as Goldyn reached on a bunt and stole second and third before Sinnett hit a single to score her.
  • In the second, the Marlins scored three runs off three hits highlighted by a double from Beth Ford and a triple from Goldyn to make it 4-0.
  • VWU made it 7-0 in the third off four hits and two Roanoke errors.
  • Kate Priester was 1-for-1 for the Maroons as Roanoke was held to one hit by Carla Hall who moved to 10-2 on the season for VWU.
