The Lead:
 Nina Davenport had 25 points to lead Bates to a 60-52 win over Roanoke in matinee action Tuesday afternoon in Wellesley, Mass.


How it Happened:

  • Roanoke got 14 points from Allison Livengood in the loss. Laura McManimen and Corinne McPadden had eight points apiece. Livengood had seven rebounds, while McPadden and Madeline Suhr pulled down six boards each.
  • Davenport was joined in double-figures by Julia Middlebrook who had 14 points and Melanie Binkhorst who had 11 points. Davenport finished with 11 rebounds as well to register a double-double.  
  • Bates was aided by making 20-of-31 attempts from the foul line, while the Maroons went to the line four times total.
  • Bates led 9-7 after the first quarter and took a 12-7 lead on a three-pointer by Carly Christofi early in the second quarter. A Livengood basket would tie the game at 15-15 with just under six minutes to play.
  • The Maroons would go on to score 13 of the final 18 points of the quarter, taking a 28-20 lead into the locker room on the back of Chris Martin layup with under 30 seconds to play.
  • Bates scored the first six points of the second half to cut the RC lead to two. The Maroons were able to then extend its advantage to seven on a  McManimen bucket with 5:26 to go.
  • A Kristina Harrel jumper made the score 44-37 RC with three minutes to play. Bates would close the quarter with a 9-0 run to push in front 46-44. 
  • Bates came out and outscored RC 11-4 over the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Up Next: Roanoke is off for the Holidays before hosting the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic on Dec. 30-31. The Maroons open play against Franklin & Marshall on the 30th at 2:00 p.m.
