The Maroons led the game in shots (33-25) and forced 26 Quaker turnovers, but Guilford topped Roanoke in draw controls (17-15) while the groundball battle was deadlocked at 25-apiece.
Darragh Evarts led Roanoke in the scoring column with six goals while Allison Bonanno scored a game-high 10 points (5g, 5a). Kathleen Wager added three goals, two assists and a team-best seven draw controls, followed by Jamie Golden, who chipped in two goals and two assists.
Elizabeth Hartge, who finished with a goal and an assist on the afternoon, was a force on the defensive end for Roanoke. She posted career-highs of four draw controls, six caused turnovers and nine groundballs.
Lily Colley led Guilford with four goals, five assists and four groundballs. Eleanora Keene posted a game-best 12 draw controls as E'leyna Garcia had three goals and an assist. Summer Frazier added four goals for the Quakers in defeat.
Lauren Curtin had eight saves in goal for Roanoke. Liza Mettler totaled 13 stops for Guilford.
The women return to action on Tuesday, April 3 as they travel to Lynchburg to take on Randolph in an ODAC contest. The Wildcats are currently 3-6, 1-4 in conference play. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
