Women's Lacrosse Rolls to ODAC Victory over Sweet Briar
SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- Roanoke rolled to a 15-9 victory over Sweet Briar in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Thursday afternoon. The Maroons improve to 7-5 overall, 5-2 in the ODAC, while the Vixens fall to 3-9, 0-5 in conference play.

Roanoke, winners of three-straight, took a 9-3 halftime lead led by five first-half goals by Jamie Golden. Up 3-2, the Maroons reeled off six unanswered goals to give them an 8-2 advantage just before the half.

Sweet Briar opened the second stanza scoring three of the first four goals to make it, 10-6 with 15-minutes remaining. Roanoke answered back with five-straight goals to give the Maroons a nine-goal lead with four-minutes left to put the game away. The Vixens tallied the final three goals, but it was too late as the Maroons stayed among the top of the conference standings with their second victory in three days.

Roanoke led in shots (41-18), groundballs (19-11) and was successful in 13-of-15 clear attempts. Caroline Baker totaled 20 saves on the night for the Vixens while Lauren Curtin and Cristina Scichilone combined for 12 saves for the Maroons.

Golden netted a career-best six goals for Roanoke. Kathleen Wager finished with four goals, one assist, four draw controls and four caused turnovers while Kyra Sichelstiel had three goals and three assists. Lily Judge added a goal and an assist.

The women return to action next Saturday, April 14 as they host Berry College (GA) in their final home game of the season. Game time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Kerr Stadium.
