Women's Lacrosse Kicks Off 2019 on Feb. 9

SALEM, Va. – Roanoke Women's Lacrosse is set to open the 2019 season Saturday, Feb. 9 against Centre at Kerr Stadium. The 2019 slate consists of 17 regular-season games, highlighted by nine home games and two games against preseason nationally ranked teams.

Head Coach Mary Schwartz and the Maroons will play all three February games at home, welcoming Centre, Averett and Ferrum in the opening weeks. Feb. 25 will mark the start of conference play with a Monday match-up with the Panthers.

In March, Roanoke will play two neutral site games in Puerto Rico, facing Christopher Newport on the fourth and John Carroll on the sixth. On March 16, RC will travel to preseason No. 8 Mary Washington.

Bridgewater will travel to Salem on Saturday, April 6 for a 12 p.m. game as part of the College's Alumni Weekend.

The senior class of eight will celebrated on April 13 prior to the start of the game against Virginia Wesleyan at 12 p.m.

Roanoke will close out the regular-season hosting preseason No. 13 Washington and Lee on Saturday, April 27.

RC was tabbed No. 5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preseason Poll with 48 points. Washington and Lee was atop the poll with 81 points and nine first place votes, followed by Randolph-Macon with 71 points and one first place vote.

Last season, Roanoke posted an 8-8 record with 3-5 conference mark. The Maroons earned a sixth seed in the ODAC Tournament and fell to third-seed Lynchburg in the Quarterfinal round.

All-Region and ODAC Defensive Player of the Year Emma Boris returns for her senior campaign for the Maroons. First Team All-ODAC selection Maggie Lewis returns to the midfield along with Second Team Selection Ellie Armstrong. Third Team All-ODAC Katie Clements also returns for her senior season.
