Grunewald named ODAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Senior Meredith Grunewald was named ODAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week announced this afternoon. It is the first women's soccer player at Roanoke to earn the honor this fall. For Grunewald, it is the second time in her career she has earned the weekly honor.
Grunewald, the team captain from Roanoke, had 10 points with three goals and four assists in two games last week. Recorded three goals and three assists for nine points in an 11-1 win over Randolph College. She also notched her team-leading 13th assist of the season in a 3-0 win over EMU in the ODAC Quarterfinals.
The Hidden Valley product has 34 career assists as the school's all-time leader and ninth in ODAC history. She is currently second in the ODAC in assists and goals this season. Her 13 assists this season is currently tied for sixth in ODAC history. She is currently ranked 50th nationally in scoring. She is one point away from tying the school-record in single-season points with 45, which currently leads the ODAC.
The Maroons are 11-6-1 on the season and will travel to Virginia Wesleyan to battle the Marlins in the ODAC Semifinals on Wednesday. VWC holds a slim 12-11-2 series advantage and defeated the women, 3-0 last month. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
