Christopher Newport defeats Roanoke, 4-1 in Women's Soccer Action

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad won its second straight match Saturday night with a 4-1 win over visiting Roanoke. The Maroons fall to 3-4-1 overall and Christopher Newport improves to 2-4-1.
The Captains got on the board early when Emily Chesbro punched home a shot off of a goalie deflection in the ninth minute.
After the Maroons Meredith Grunewald tied the score in the 22nd minute, Kendall Dishaw scored the eventual game-winner in the 25th minute on a shot from about 20 yards away. The Captains tied the series record at 3-3 vs. the Maroons.
Jenn Campbell added an insurance goal in the 39th minute with Shelby Walters assisting. Dishaw scored in the 90th minute with Meghan Conheeney assisting the final goal.
Roanoke out-shot the CNU, 13-11. Dineen Sampson had six saves in goal for CNU while Lindsay Kooiman had five saves for the Maroons.
Roanoke returns home this Tuesday to take on Bridgewater at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons are 9-0-1 all-time vs. the Eagles. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
