Women's Soccer Wins 1-0 Off Graves Header
GREENSBORO, NC - Carmen Graves (Christiansburg, VA, Christiansburg) headed a deflected ball into the back of the net to give the Roanoke women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Guilford on Tuesday. The Maroons now sit at 11-4-1, 7-3 ODAC while the Quakers are now 9-7-2 and 4-4-2 in ODAC play. It was the programs' 300th victory.

Guilford got out of the gates early, taking multiple shots at Carolyn Sarbacher (Dunkirk, MD, Northern), who had three saves after the first 13 minutes of play. At the 15th minute, Graves headed a ball deflected from a free kick into the back of the goal, earning her sixth goal of the season. Graves goal would ultimately prove to be the game winning goal as neither team would score for the remaining 75 minutes of play.

With this win, Roanoke holds the all-time series advantage of 24-4 and has now won the last five meetings between the two teams. Guilford outshot Roanoke 10-9, but the Maroons held the advantage in corner kicks 3-2. Sarbacher played all 90 minutes off action and made six saves.

The Maroons will return to action on Oct. 22 as they travel to Ashland, VA to face Randolph-Macon in their final ODAC matchup in the regular season. That game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
