Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 to Salisbury in Roanoke Invitational
SALEM – The Roanoke College women's soccer team fell in the final game of the Roanoke Invitational on Sunday afternoon, 2-0 to Salisbury University.  The Maroons now have a record of 1-1, while the Seagulls are 1-1.

The Maroons have an all-time 2-1 record over Salisbury, having previously defeated them in 2010 (1-0) and 2011 (3-0).

The Seagulls struck first in the contest as Morgan Brasch got on a breakaway down the right side of the goal, then passed across the front of the net to Lindsey Andonian, who found the back of the goal.  Just 29 minutes into the game, Salisbury held a 1-0 lead.

Salsibury extended its lead to 2-0 just minutes into the second half as Julie Dannenberg placed one in the top of the goal from well outside the 18.  The Seagulls were able to hold off the Maroons for the remainder for the half, picking up the 2-0 victory.

The Maroons finished the game with just three shots, one each from Ashley Barnes, Marlana Barnard and Kara Kapell.  Sarah Dvorak and Carolyn Sarbacher each split time in the goal, both making two saves apiece.

Salisbury had nine shots on the afternoon, with Jayne Pinsky leading the team with two shots, while seven other Seagulls had one shot each.  Alesha Seifert played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied one save.

Salisbury held the advantage in shots, as well as corner kicks (3-2), while Roanoke led in saves 4-1.

The Maroons return to action on Friday, September 6th as they take on Averett University at Kerr Stadium.  That contest will be a Pack The House event, and will begin with a 7:00 kick-off time.
