Women's Soccer Falls in ODAC Quarterfinals to Shenandoah
WINCHESTER – The Roanoke College women's soccer team fell in the Quarterfinal round of the 2013 ODAC Championships, 2-0 to Shenandoah.  The Maroons finish the season with a record of 10-7-2, while the Hornets (11-7-1) advance to the ODAC Semifinals against Lynchburg College on Tuesday.

The Maroons tallied an overall mark of 10-7-2; 8-3-1 in ODAC play.  Roanoke posted an 8-0-1 record in the month of October.  During the nine October games in the 2013 season, the Maroons outscored their opponents 30-3, which included seven shutouts.  The Maroons also completed their eighth consecutive 10 win season, a first time accomplishment for the Roanoke women's soccer program.

The Maroons had two ODAC players of the week in 2013, in both Ashley Barnes and Nathalie Torres.  Ashley Barnes received the award after scoring four goals in Roanoke's 6-0 win over Randolph College.  Torres scored three goals over two games to garner the Player of the Week honor.

In tonight's game, Shenandoah and Roanoke had a fairly even number of shots (12-11) and corner kicks (3-2) with the Hornets holding the advantage in both.  The teams held each other scoreless in the first half, while both squads took four shots apiece in the frame.

In the second half, Shenandoah put the first goal on the board.  At the 69:21 mark, the Hornets' Alysha McCleaf scored off of a pass from Kelsie Luddington, giving Shenandoah the 1-0 lead.  Just three minutes later, Averi Rosena found the back of the net after the assist from Courtney Stull, boosting the Hornets' lead two 2-0.  That lead held for the remainder of the contest as Shenandoah won the Quarterfinal contest.

Nathalie Torres and Lauren O'Brien led the Maroons in shots with three each, while Marlana Barnard finished with two.  Carolyn Sarbacher played all 90 minutes in net and finished the game with four saves.
