Phil Benne Named ODAC Coach of the Year; Six Maroons Earn All-ODAC Honors

FOREST, Va. -- The Roanoke Women's Soccer team placed six student-athletes on the 2015 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Conference teams, while RC Head Coach Phil Benne was named ODAC Coach of the Year as the league announced its yearly awards on Wednesday.

Forward Ashley Barnes, midfielder Nathalie Torres and defender Laura Sullivan were named Second-Team All-ODAC, while forward Linnea Kremer, defender Heather Reynolds and goalkeeper Sarah Dvorak earned third-team honors.

Finishing his 26th season, Benne earns his fifth ODAC Coach of the Year honor after leading the Maroons to its 10th consecutive season with at least 10 victories. RC was the first sixth-seed to advance to the ODAC Championship game since the league adopted the eight-team format in 1991. The Maroons were the first team in league history to face each of the three top-seeds in the tournament, earning results against each. RC beat No. 2 Shenandoah and tied No. 3 Washington and Lee and No. 1 Lynchburg.

Barnes tied for the team lead and ranked 12th in the ODAC with seven goals this season. Her 14 points ranked 16th best in the league, while her three game-winning strikes was fifth most in the ODAC.

Torres started all 21 matches for RC, registering a goal and an assist on the season. Torres along with Sullivan were key ingredients to a Maroon defense that allowed just 0.67 goals per game which was second-best in the ODAC.

Kremer played in all 21 matches during the season and scored four goals and added four assist for a total of 12 points. Her four assists was 14th highest in the ODAC and her 12 points ranked 24th.

Reynolds and Dvorak joined Torres and Sullivan in helping RC surrender just 15 goals on the season which ranked third lowest among ODAC foes. Dvorak's 0.71 goals against average was second lowest in the league and her 77 saves was sixth most among ODAC keepers.
