The Lead: Emily Whitaker had a goal and an assist to lead Roanoke College Women's Soccer to a 2-0 victory over regionally ranked Christopher Newport on Sunday evening.

How it Happened

• RC got on the board in the 16^th minute when Whitaker collected a deflected ball inside the box and made a great turn on the CNU defender and beat goalkeeper Carly Maglio to make it 1-0.
• With just 1:20 to go before halftime, Whitaker sent a pass to Anna Carter who put a shot from just inside the box that went over the head of Maglio, hit the cross-bar and past the goal line to make it 2-0.
• The RC defense would make the lead stand up in the second-half. Despite CNU getting off 10 shots only three were on frame and each were saved by Sarah Dvorak.
• Christopher Newport came into the game riding an eight match winning streak and is currently ranked No. 6 in this week's NCAA Southeast Regional Rankings.
• CNU finished with a 16-6 advantage in shots and 5-1 in corner kick opportunities.
• Dvorak finished with five saves, while Maglio made two stops for the Captains.
