The Lead: Roanoke tied Wheaton 1-1 in day one of the Shellenberger Classic, Friday night in Lynchburg, Va.

How it Happened:

• Laura Garbarini found the back of the net off a header on a pass from Lucy Perry with just under 15 seconds left in the first-half to give Roanoke a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.
• Wheaton tied the game three minutes after the start of the second-half with a goal from Morgan Whitman, assisted by Anna Sounders.
• In the first overtime, Wheaton recorded the only shot of the period as the score remained 1-1.
• The Thunder held a 6-1 advantage in shots in the second overtime period but Chris Martin has four saves as the Maroons kept Wheaton off the board.
• Martin made 14 saves on the night as Wheaton held a 31-8 edge in shots and a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Kathryn McGregor made two saves in net for the Thunder. 

Up Next: Roanoke faces Salisbury at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday in the final day of the Shellenberger Classic in Lynchburg, Va.
