The Lead: A second-half goal from Kathryn Van Orden lifted Roanoke to a 1-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan to remain undefeated in conference play. 

How it Happened:

  • Van Orden found the back of the net with a header off a cross from Kylie Bruce to score what proved to be the game-winner with 20 minutes left in regulation.
  • Virginia Wesleyan outshot the Maroons 12-10 and the Marlins also took the only three corner kicks on the day.
  • Chris Martin made four saves for RC within 81 minutes in net while Caroline Liebel didn't have to make any saves in her nine minutes in net.
  • Alicia Zamora made five saves for the Marlins.
