How it Happened

  • Washington and Lee opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Chandler Wickers corralled the rebound of her own shot and scored to make it 1-0.
  • The score remained that way through halftime and into the 58th minute when Ellie Schad collected the ball, beat a W&L defender and was able to slip a pass to Hailey Davis whose shot went under the hands of General keeper Molly Mann to tie the game.
  • The teams battled through the remainder of the regulation and into double overtime. With just 15 seconds remaining, the Generals countered upfield where Wickers was able to cross a pass to Engleland who scored the game-winner.
  • W&L held a slim 9-7 edge in shots, while Roanoke held the edge in corner kicks 8-5.
  • Chris Martin made five saves for Roanoke, while Molly Mann made one stop for Washington and Lee.
