The Lead: A pair of first-half goals lifted No. 3 Roanoke to a 2-0 win over No. 6 Randolph-Macon in the ODAC Quarterfinals Wednesday night in Salem. 

How it Happened: 

  • Kathryn Van Orden gave Roanoke an early 1-0 lead with a goal just under eight minutes into the contest.
  • 12 minutes later, Meagan Ryan scored off a long shot, assisted from Ellie Schad, that found the back of the net just under the crossbar to make it 2-0.
  • Roanoke rattled off 23 shots on the night while the Maroon defense held the Yellow Jackets to only three shots on the night.
  • RC took four corners on the night and Randolph-Macon had three.
  • Chris Martin made two saves on the night and Christina Newman made five in goal for R-MC.

Up Next: No. 3 Roanoke will face No. 2 Lynchburg at Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. Game time for the semifinal match is still to be determined.
