Sullivan, Whitaker, Martin Named All-State by VaSID

Salem, Va. – Three Roanoke College Women's Soccer standouts have been named to the 2017 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Team.

Defender Laura Sullivan, midfielder Emily Whitaker and goalkeeper Chris Martin were all named to the second-team, weeks after each were named First-Team All-ODAC.

Sullivan, who was also named All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches earlier this month, capped her career with her fourth straight All-ODAC recognition.

Sullivan and Martin anchored an RC backline that tied for the top spot in the ODAC, with a 0.71 goals against average for the season. The Maroons led the league with 11 shutouts on the season.

Whitaker earns her second straight all-state selection following a senior season in which she played in 16 matches during this season. She had two goals and three assists for a total of seven points.

Roanoke finished the season with 11 wins and ranked No. 8 in the NCAA South Atlantic Regional rankings.
