Roanoke picked 5th in ODAC poll

The 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Soccer Preseason Poll was released on Wednesday afternoon. Roanoke College was picked fifth in the 13 team league, as voted on by the conference coaches.

Roanoke College enters the fall 2021 campaign less than five months after completing a, Covid induced, abreviated 2020 season that saw the Maroons finish third in the regular season. After a 1-0 quarterfinal win over Randolph-Macon, the Maroons would fall to eventual Champion Bridgewater, 1-0, in the semifinals. RC returns a pair of All ODAC defenders in Erin Flamm and Eliza Ryan as well as the reigning ODAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year in forward Morgan O'NeillHead Coach Phill Benne and his staff will return a majority of their roster but will have to replace three starters, all named all conference one season ago.

The Maroons get the season started with a home match against Greensboro on September 1st in advance of hosting Milsaps and Farmingdale State in the 2021 edition of the Roanoke Invitational Showcase. After a non-conference matchup with Lynchburg in late September, Roanoke will open ODAC play on September 25th in Lexington against last year's regular season champion Washington and Lee. Six home ODAC matches are highlighted by back-to-back visits by Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan during the first 10 days of October. The home finale is scheduled for Sunday October 24th against Sweet Briar and the rematch with the Eagles is scheduled for October 27th in Bridgewater ahead of the regular season finale in Shenandoah on Saturday October 30th.
