Salem, Va. – Roanoke College's Maria Vinson has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Swimmer of the Week.  

Vinson, a freshman from Richmond, Va., helped the Maroons to a tri-meet victory over Hollins and Sweet Briar and a dual-meet win over William Peace with four first place finishes and a trio of relay wins. In Roanoke's 156-36 and 164-25 wins over HU and SBC, respectively, Vinson won the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyles with new ODAC top times of 5:17.04 and 1:59.23. She and teammates Reilly Bird, Sarah Virginia Scott, and Elizabeth Roberts won the 400-yard medley relay in 4:15.92. In a 189-36 victory over William Peace, Vinson again won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:17.92 and set a new program record in winning the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.06. Vinson was a member of two winning relays --- 1:47.56 with Bird, Anna Engel, and Sydney Sellars in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 4:22.76 with Maggie Riggan, Scott, and Engel in the 400-yard medley relay.
