Women's Tennis Opens 2019 on Feb. 15

SALEM, Va. – Women's Tennis is set to start the 2019 portion of its season on Friday, Feb. 15 with a home match against Guilford.

The 2019 slate, set by Head Coach Daniel Ragsdale, is made up of 17 regular-season matches featuring 11 home contests, two away and four neutral site matches.

After the season-opener, Roanoke heads to Hilton Head, S.C. to face Wilkes, Baldwin Wallace, Spring Arbor and Defiance March 3-6.

The Maroons close out March with six straight home contest over a course of 15 days with five facing conference opponents.

RC earned a No. 5 ranking in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preseason Poll with 100 points, one point off from No. 4 Virginia Wesleyan. Washington and Lee took the top spot with 12 first-place votes and 144 points.

Last season, Roanoke finished 12-6 overall with a 7-4 conference mark, earning the No. 6 seed in the ODAC Championships. The Maroons fell to No. 3 Lynchburg in the quarterfinals to close out the season.

Madeline Herring, a 2018 First-Team All-ODAC #4 Singles selection returns to action for the Maroons alongside First Team All-ODAC #5 Singles Carolyn Kitsock. Janny Alvarado, First Team All-ODAC #3 Doubles with Kitsock also returns.
