Briggs and Calascione Named All-Region by the USTFCCCA

Salem, Va. – Roanoke College standout student-athletes Mara Briggs and Jennifer Calascione have both been named All-South/Southeast Region for the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). 

Briggs earned honors in the high jump, while Calascione earned recognition for her work in the discus.

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay teams. 

Briggs secured all-region honors at the ODAC Championships when she had a jump of 1.66m /5' 5.25" that was third best in the region at the close of the season and ranked 24th best in all of Division III. 

Calascione's throw of  41.95m / 137' 7" at the 2019 Liberty Twilight Meet was the second best mark in the region and was 39th best in the nation this season. The throw was also the best in the ODAC and a school record. 

A total of 1,915 honors were handed out to athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions, which included a near-even split between men's (951) and women's programs (964).
