Roanoke Competes At Smith Invitational

Roanoke College competed in Winchester over the weekend

The Basics
Event: 2019 Kaye and JJ Smith Invitational (hosted by Shenandoah University)
Location: Winchester, Va.

The Lead: The Roanoke College men's and women's track teams traveled to Winchester to compete in the Kaye and JJ smith Invitational, hosted by Shenandoah University.

Women's Highlights:

  • Freshmen Eliza Ryan debut with the top time in the women's 400m with a time of 1:04.38.  Sophomore Hannah Koepfinger finished 3rd with a time of 1:05.05
  • Freshmen Spencer Mann finished 4th in the 60m dash with a time of 8.33 seconds.
  • Freshmen Hannah Snodgrass finished 5th in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 10.02.
  • Alison Barthol finished 4th in the 800 with a time of 2:48.
  • The Women's 4X400m relay team of Koepfinger, Snodgrass, Lauren Henson, and Ryan finished 4th with a time of 4:26.71
  • Koepfinger finished 5th in the Women's Long Jump with a distance of 4.48m.
  • Samantha Hampton finished 7th in the Women's Shot Put with a throw of 10.71m

 Men's Highlights:

  • Corbin Tuner led the men's team with a 2nd place finish in the Men's Pole Vault clearing 3.90m.  Dillon Kopec finished 5th with a clearing height of 3.75m
  • Keleb Bland finished 3rd in the Men's Shot Put with a distance of 13.25m.
  • Hunter Bohon finished 4th in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.82. Sophomore Zach McNeil followed suit with a 7th place finish jumping 5.36m
  • Freshmen Bohon and Grayson Cornett finish 6th and 7th in the men's 60m Hurdlers.  Bohon ran 9.37 while Cornett ran 9.38.

 Up next: RC will host the Finn Pincus Invitational on January 24-25.
