RC men and women compete at VMI Indoor Classic

The Basics
Event: VMI Indoor Classic
Location: Lexington, Va.

The Lead: The RC men and women took aim at a 40 team field that featured many of the best DI, DII, and DIII teams in the region.

Women's Highlights:

  • The Pole Vault would see a pair of Maroons land in the top 10. Chloe Van Duyne cleared a height of 10'0" for a 6th place finish. Louise Tester would equal the 10'0" height, giving RC two finishers in the top 10.
  • In the High Jump, Alison Moreau would clear the 4'11" mark to earn a 6th place finish. On Saturday, Moreau would return to post a time of 26.16 in the 200 Meters.
  • Jayna Jean-Jules would just miss a top 10 when she finished 11th with a distance of 48'10.25" in the Weight Throw.

Men's Highlights:

  • The quartet of Josh Fretwell, Cameron Harris, Ryan Hamacher, and Cooper Neeble finished the 4000 Distance Medley Relay (DMR) in a time of 10:59.34, earning a 5th place finish.
  • The 5000 Meters would see another Roanoke top 10 as Chamberlain Zulauf finished 9th in a time of 15:43.37.
  • Jackson Smith registered the best finish of the meet for RC when he topped 13'1.50" in the Pole Vault, posting a 3rd place finish.

Up next: As the 2020 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship meet grows closer, the RC track teams will have one more warm-up at the JDL DMR Challenge in Winston-Salem on February 21st and 22nd.
