Volleyball falls in five to Randolph-Macon

Ashland, Va. --- Randolph-Macon defeated Roanoke College, 3-2 in volleyball action on Saturday afternoon in ODAC action. The Maroons drop to 12-2 overall, 2-2 in ODAC play. The Yellow Jackets improved to 13-5, 4-0 in the ODAC.
The Yellow Jackets currently own an 11-6 series advantage over the Maroons, including the last eight in a row since 2002. Though the Maroons lost, they did win two sets in the match, the first time in six years.
Down 2-0 (21-25, 24-26) for the second-straight match, the Maroons dug deep once again and rallied back to take the next two sets, 25-22 and 25-12 to force the final frame. Their luck ran out as they fell, 11-15 as the Yellow Jackets claimed their 12th win of the season.
Kelsey Largen led the Maroons with a career-high 22 kills along with nine digs and two service aces. Maggie Wagner had 15 kills and 16 digs while Kate Feldman had 48 assists, 11 digs and two block assists.
Caitlyn Long led Roanoke with 27 digs along with two service aces to move her into seventh all-time in that category. Marcy Conner had 10 kills, a block solo and a block assist. Emily Martin contributed 12 digs.
The women will return home on Tuesday, Sept. 30 as they take on Randolph College. The Maroons are 21-3 against the Wildcats in the series and have lost only one set since 1998. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
