Roanoke falls to Bridgewater, 3-2 in ODAC Quarterfinals
Roanoke, Va. --- The Roanoke volleyball team fell, 3-2 to Bridgewater in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament this evening at Hollins University. The Eagles advance to the semifinal round against #1 seed Washington & Lee tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Roanoke fell in scores of 25-21, 24-26, 25-27, 25-21 and 11-15 to end their record-setting season at 24-4, the best in school-history. The 24 wins also tie the 2002 team with the most wins in program history. The 11-game win streak was snapped, not before claiming second all-time at Roanoke for most consecutive wins behind the 2002 team with 16.
The Maroons were paced by Maggie Wagner with 19 kills and 16 digs. She had 292 kills on the season and 299 digs. Kelsey Largen had 16 kills and 13 digs. She finished with 294 kills on the season and finished seventh at Roanoke with 862 single-season attacks.
Emily Martin led Roanoke with 23 digs which was the third time this season with 20 or more. She finished with 292 digs on the season. Caitlyn Long had a season-high 50 assists, 10 digs and two aces to lead Roanoke. She finished with 359 digs on the season, third for most in a season. She is now ninth all-time in career assists with 660.
Marcy Conner and Lauren Reznik ended their careers on a high-note as their leadership played a major role in this year's success of the program.
Prior to the match, Largen, Long and Wagner all made the All-ODAC Team. Long was honorable mention while Largen and Wagner garnered second-team honors.
