Salem, Va. --- The Roanoke College volleyball team reigned supreme in the 2008 Maroon Classic, winning all four matches without losing a single set to claim the title. Kelsey Largen was selected MVP of the classic while fellow freshman Kate Feldman was tabbed all-tournament honors.

Roanoke defeated Meredith, Ferrum, Methodist and Shenandoah all by a score of 3-0 to go 4-0 on the weekend.

The Maroons were led by their MVP Largen with a team-best 32 kills and 77 attacks in only 10 sets. Her best match came against Methodist as she had a season-high 13 kills. Fellow Cave Spring product Maggie Wagner had 29 kills, 74 attacks and 18 digs in 10 sets.

Feldman, who is a Patrick Henry product, had 90 assists and 26 digs in all 12 sets played for the Maroons. Junior Cave Spring product Caitlyn Long led Roanoke with 47 digs and five service aces in all 12 sets.

Marcy Conner (Hidden Valley HS), Erin Burnop (Blacksburg) and Rachel Hawkins led the Maroons in the middle, picking up a combined 22 blocks. Conner led the Maroons with nine total blocks along with 28 kills with only two errors on the weekend. Burnop had 24 kills and 73 attacks.

The Maroons have won eight-straight games, their longest winning streak behind a school-record 22-striaght that was set in 2002. The 8-0 start is the best in school history.

The women will play again Tuesday, Sept. 9 as they travel to Southern Virginia with game time starting at 6:30 p.m. The Maroons are 3-6 all-time vs. the Knights and are looking for their first win in the series since 2003.
