LEXINGTON, Va. --- Roanoke dropped a pair of matches to Christopher Newport, (3-1) and Washington & Lee (3-0) at the Warner Center on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons dropped to 12-14 on the season.

The Maroons fell to Christopher Newport with scores of 16-25, 21-25, 26-24 and 10-25. Roanoke is now, 6-4 all-time against the Captains, dropping three of its last four meetings.

Maggie Wagner (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)led Roanoke with team-bests of 10 kills and 21 digs. Kelsey Largen (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)finished with 10 kills and 11 digs while Lynsey Ferris had eight kills and six digs. Caitlyn Long (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring)totaled 28 assists and 13 digs as Emily Martin (Daleville, VA, Lord Botetourt)added 20 digs.

In the second match, Roanoke fell to the Generals with scores of 15-25, 23-25 and 14-25. The Maroons are now 4-29 all-time against W&L.

Wagner led Roanoke again with 11 kills and 11 digs while Rachel Hawkins (Winchester, VA, Millbrook)added eight kills. Long led the Maroons again with 23 assists and 13 digs as Martin had 17 digs.

Martin passed Susan Brown ‘95 on the career digs list at Roanoke with 901 for her career. Long moved up to fifth all-time in ODAC History in career digs with 1,597. She is 33 digs shy of passing former Lynchburg great Corri Pfister for fourth on that list. She has also moved up to fourth all-time in single-season digs at Roanoke with 342. She now has the top-four single-season digs marks in Roanoke's 35-plus year volleyball program. Martin is not far behind that mark with 339 digs on the season, which ranks her sixth on that list.

The women will be on the road this Thursday, Oct. 22 as they take on Sweet Briar in ODAC action. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
