GREENSBORO, NC - Guilford defeated Roanoke, 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-16, 25-21) in ODAC action Thursday evening at Regan-Brown Field House. The Maroons fall to 4-20 overall, 1-8 in the ODAC while the Quakers improve to 9-14, 4-5 in the conference.

Roanoke battled in all four sets behind their two seniors, Rachel Hawkins (Winchester, VA, Millbrook) and Kelsey Largen (Roanoke, VA, Cave Spring). Hawkins had 11 kills to place her 14^th on the career kills list at Roanoke. Largen added 11 kills, six digs and three aces to pass Torri Bridge '08 for 13^th on the career list. Freshman Sarah Long (Midlothian, VA, Midlothian High School) chipped in with nine kills, eight digs and an impressive five blocks.

Setter Shannon Stone (Williamsburg, VA, Lafayette) had a team-high 31 assists and also added 11 pickups. She enters next week's contest vs. Hollins only 35 assists shy of passing Caitlyn Long '10 for fifth on the career list. Samantha Klostermann (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) paced the defense with a match-high 14 digs.

Emma Gunn and Laura Kopald lead the attack with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Kopald also helped the cause with six aces. Mary Moody had a team-high 13 kills and 10 digs while Taylor Phillips added 11 pickups. Setter Taylor Whitley paced the way with a match-high 39 assists.

The women will return to action on the road on Tuesday, Oct. 25 as they take on crosstown-rival Hollins. The match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
