Former Maroons Come Back to participate in Volleyball Alumnae Day
The Maroon Club was proud to host the Roanoke College Volleyball programs' Alumnae Game on Sept. 14. The weekend kicked-off with the college's "Friday on the Quad" where the alumni were able to get attend the picnic and reengage in the campus community on the back quad. Later that evening, the women were able to catch the ODAC Volleyball match against Bridgewater Friday night at the Bast Center, which resulted in a victory.

At noon on that Saturday, head volleyball coach Blair Trail '99 gave out RC Volleyball T-Shirts to all alumni participants as they were warming-up for the alumnae game at the Bast Gym. The teams were split between odd vs. even years based on their graduating years.

Heather Cook-Hunter '05, Caitlyn Long-Moore '10, Erin Shive-Harmon '06, Kelsey Largen '12, Marcy Conner '09, Jessica Bayne '13, Jessica Welfare '11 and Rachel Hawkins '12 were just a few of the former Maroons who enjoyed the opportunity to participate at what they used to call home for four years. Despite not having any subs and no longer being tournament-tested, the former Maroons battled through three sets as the even years team edged the odd year alums, 2-1.

Following the game, the alums were able to relax and get a FREE lunch reception hosted by the Maroon Club. Lunches were provided by Chick-Fil-A and soft drinks/water was courtesy of Pepsi. At the event, head coach Blair Trail and her longtime assistant Randy Asbury addressed those at the reception about the importance of family and how the Maroon Club can re-engage our alums back to campus and the program.

"The Maroon Club hosted another fun weekend that allowed our current players to engage in conversations with our alumni," Trail stated. "Our alums enjoy having the opportunity to play again in the C. Homer Bast Center and reconnect with their former teammates and fellow alums."

After the reception, the alums were able to see another victory for the Maroons as Trail earned her 256th victory in a 3-1 decision over Eastern Mennonite Saturday afternoon.
