The Roanoke College volleyball team will play in the 2013 ODAC Championship Semifinals on Saturday, November 9th against Washington and Lee Univeristy. The Maroons will travel to Lexington to face off against the Generals and potentially play in the ODAC Championship game on the same day. With the way that the tournament is set up, the semifinals and finals will both be held on Saturday. The semifinals will be played in the morning, while the ODAC Championship match will be held in the late afternoon. As of this time, the match times have not been set. However, we will update this story as the information becomes available.
After defeating Virginia Wesleyan 3-0 on Tuesday, the Maroons advanced to their first ODAC semifinal since the 2009 season, where they defeated Washington and Lee in the quarterfinal round. Roanoke is also looking for a win on Saturday to earn it's 20th win of the season, a feat that they last accomplished in 2010. In the six previous seasons, Roanoke has had three 20-win campaigns, and looks to add a fourth this year.
Samantha Klosterman ranks fourth in kills in the ODAC, putting away 321 points this season. She also ranks fourth in kills per set, with a mark of 3.12. Mackenzie Tyree sits fourth in the ODAC in digs per set (4.43) and sixth in digs with 381. In just two years, Mackenzie Tyree ranks eighth all-time in career digs at Roanoke, with a mark of 863, which is only six digs behind Susan Brown '95. Macey Tyree currently ranks third in the ODAC in service aces with 53.
Students, faculty, staff and fans are encouraged to make the short trip up to Lexington to cheer on the Roanoke volleyball team in their match against Washington and Lee. If the Maroons win in the ODAC semifinals, they would play the winner of #3 Lynchburg vs. #7 Bridgewater on Saturday afternoon in Lexington.
