2014 Women's Volleyball Season Recap
The Roanoke College volleyball team finished the 2014 season with a record of 21-9, 7-4 in ODAC play. For the fourth consecutive year, the Maroons have improved their season record from the previous year.

Roanoke's 21 win season is the program's best since the team won the same amount of games in 2010. It also marks the Maroons' sixth 20-win season, all of which have come under head coach Blair Trail. Trail, who now sits with 287 career wins, can reach the 300 win milestone with a similar performance in 2015. With seven conference wins in 2014, picking up the seventh against Guilford on Oct. 29, Trail has officially won 100 ODAC matches in her career. Her 100 ODAC wins are more than half of the conference wins in program history (192).

Roanoke got out a hot start in 2014, winning the first six consecutive matches to begin the season. The 6-0 start was the best start for the program since the 2008 season. Roanoke swept the Averett Invitational, defeating Central, Peace, Central Methodist and Greensboro, only giving up one set in four wins. Allison White was named MVP of the tournament, while Christen Zammit was named to the All-Tournament team. The Maroons went on to win three of four at the Washington & Lee Invitational, with Allison White being named to the All-Tournament Team.

Roanoke went on to win the first two games of the Maroon invitational, boosting the Maroons to a 9-1 record in the first 10 matches, again tying the best start since 2008. The Maroons went 3-1 in the Maroon Invitational, with the three wins coming by the score of 3-0. Macey Tyree was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Maroons in this tournament.

The Maroons hit a rough patch in the middle of the season going 3-5 between September 15th and October 2nd. Roanoke picked up a win over Methodist, 3-1 on October 9th, which got the wheel's running to the Maroons big win of the season. On October 15th, Roanoke topped Washington & Lee, 3-2 in the Bast Center. It was the first regular season win over the Generals since October 25, 2000 and the first win over W&L since 2009. The Maroons handed the Generals their first loss of the ODAC season up to that point.

With the wins over Methodist and W&L, Roanoke strung together seven consecutive wins from October 9th to October 29th, with four 3-0 victories. The Maroons won the final regular season match of the year over Averett in the Bast Center, giving the Maroons the 21st win of the season. With the 21-8 record, the Maroons earned a #5 seed in the ODAC Tournament. The Maroons had to travel to face #4 seed Lynchburg College in the ODAC Quarterfinals. However, Roanoke fell 3-1 in the tournament match, closing the season with a record of 21-9.
