SALEM - Maggie Wagner '11 will serve as the new assistant coach of the Roanoke College Volleyball team, announced Monday by head coach Blair Trail.

Wagner was a standout outside hitter for Cave Spring High School, as well as Roanoke College from 2008-2010. As a Maroon, Wagner ranks sixth all-time in career kills, notching 926 over her three year career.  She also ranks fourth all-time in career digs, tallying 1,005 in just three seasons.  Adding to her success, Wagner also ranks in the top-10 in single season digs and kills.

During her time at Roanoke College, Wagner made the Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Tournament team in both 2009 and 2010.  She was also named a second team All-ODAC performer in 2008, and a First Team All-ODAC pick in 2010.  Along with her ODAC accolades, Wagner was a Second Team VaSID All-State honoree in 2010.  Prior to attending Roanoke College, Wagner also played a season at Radford University.

"Maggie will bring a wealth of experience to our program," noted Trail.  "Our players will be challenged by her on a daily basis.  I look forward to her being involved in the recuriting process, as well as sharing her knowledge of the game."

Wagner has spent the last three years as an assistant coach at Cave Spring High School and Roanoke United Club Volleyball.  She joins the coaching staff along side Marcy Conner '09, who is entering her sixth season as assitant volleyball coach at Roanoke College.  The Maroons begin their season on August 30-31 as they travel to Danville to participate in the Averett Invitational.
