FERRUM – The Roanoke College Volleyball team defeated Ferrum College on Monday evening, 3-1 (15-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19).  The Maroons now have a record of 11-2, while the Panthers sit with a mark of 1-7.
 
This is the second time that the Maroons have faced off against the Panthers in 2014.  Roanoke topped Ferrum 3-0 in its second game of the Maroon Classic over the weekend.  Roanoke has won five of its last six and now get ready to enter Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
 
The Maroons rallied to win three straight sets, after falling in the first, 15-25 to the Panthers.  Roanoke's Sarah Long led all players in kills with 12, followed by Brooke Bostwick with 10 kills.  Jessica Block led the Maroons in both assists (36) and digs (11).  Roanoke tallied three service aces, one each from Ryan Hedgpeth, Bostwick and Logan Graves.  Bostwick and Graves also put together three block assists each, totaling six of the team's eight on the evening.  Macey Tyree finished the contest with nine digs, second most on the team.
 
Roanoke opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference Play on Wednesday, as the team travels to take on Randolph-Macon in Ashland, VA.  That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
