Maroons Battle Knights to Tough 3-1 Volleyball Loss
BUENA VISTA– The Roanoke College volleyball team fell in non-conference action to Southern Virginia University, 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 28-26, 15-25) on Wednesday.  The Maroons now have a record of 12-5, while the Knights are 10-6.
 
The Maroons fought the Knights in the first set to a 26-24 loss, with Southern Virginia winning the second set 25-22.  Roanoke didn't allow Southern Virginia to win the third set, battling to a 28-26 win, but the Knights overcame the Maroons in the fourth set for the 25-15 win.
 
The Maroons were led in kills by Brooke Bostwick with 11 kills, followed by Allison White with 10.  Jessica Block led the Maroons in assists, dishing out 25 on the evening.  Alexandra Martin topped the squad with 10 digs, followed by Block, white and Christen Zammit with nine each.
 
The Knights were led in kills by Vanessa Pawlak with 16, followed by Kaitlyn Eaton and Hannah Phillips with 10 each.  Katelyn Tlustek also led the Knights in assists with 29.  April Bennett topped the team with 19 digs, followed by Phillips with 16.  Pawlak and Natalie Workman finished with 10 digs apiece.
 
The Maroons return to action on Saturday, September 27th as they play host to Shenandoah University.  That contest is scheduled for an 11:00 AM start.
