    The Virginia Sports information Directors (VaSID) announced their 2021 All state softball teams on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore pitcher Jada Karnes was named to the 1st team.

    The Roanoke College Athletic Department announced their 2020-21 award winners on Monday afternoon. The announcement of the four awards comes after an unprecedented season that would see all sports competing, in condensed schedules, over a three and a half month period due to the pandemic.
  • Karnes Headlines Quartet On All ODAC Teams

    On Tuesday morning, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their 2021 All ODAC Softball awards. Four Maroons were named to the three teams after a season in which Roanoke finished fourth in the conference and earned a trip to the ODAC Softball Tournament semifinals.
  • Late Inning Rally Spoils Roanoke Upset Bid

    The Roanoke College softball trip headed east to face the #1 seeded Virginia Wesleyan Marlins in the semifinals of the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. Roanoke would take a 2-0 lead over their hosts heading into the bottom of the sixth. A pair of runs by the Marlins, ranked #1 in the NFCA national rankings, would tie the score. Virginia Wesleyan would complete the comeback with a run in the bottom of the seventh for the, 3-2, series opening win. Game two would see the Marlins take the momentum from their comeback and race out to a big lead, eliminating the Maroons from the ODAC Tournament, 7-0.
  • Roanoke Advances In ODAC Tournament

    After splitting with Bridgewater on Tuesday night, the Roanoke College softball team welcomed the Eagles back to Salem for the quarterfinal round of the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Tournament. Bridgewater raced out to a 3-0 lead before the Maroons rallied to tie the score and send game one into extra innings. Roanoke stopped BC from scoring in the top half before plating the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to take a 1-0 series lead. The Maroons never trailed in game two as four late runs would allow RC to complete the sweep and advance in the ODAC Tournament.
  • Roanoke Takes Opener Against Bridgewater

    The Roanoke softball team played host to Bridgewater in their final tune up prior to the start of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Championships that start this Saturday. The first game with the Eagles was a low scoring pitcher’s duel. A single Roanoke run in the third inning would prove to be all the offense that either team could produce and the Maroons picked up the 1-0 ODAC win. Game two would see Bridgewater race out to a 6-0 advantage. A three-run rally would cut the deficit in half, but in the end Roanoke would have to settle for a split with the Eagles.
  • Maroons Split In Virginia Beach

    The Roanoke softball team traveled to Virginia Wesleyan to face the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leading Marlins in a double header. Each team would record a shutout with Virginia Wesleyan winning the opener, 5-0, before the Maroons would post a 2-0 win in the second game to finish the season series with a split.

    Roanoke looked to keep their current two game win streak alive when they hosted Randolph College for a double header on Thursday night. After falling behind 1-0, the Maroons scored nine unanswered runs to take the opener in six innings, 9-1. In the nightcap, Roanoke found themselves down 6-1 before a comeback would see Roanoke earn a 9-8 win, running their current streak to four straight wins.
  • Rally Propels Roanoke To Sweep Of Panthers

    After falling to Lynchburg in a pair of one-run games last night, Roanoke traveled to Ferrum for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) double header. The opening game would see the Maroons race out to a 6-2 advantage and held on for the 7-5 win. Roanoke would need a three-run rally in the top of the sixth to complete the comeback for the 9-8 series sweeping win.
  • Roanoke Falls In a Pair Of One Run Games

    Roanoke returned home for a double header with Lynchburg on Monday night. Game one would feature a pitchers duel that would stay scoreless until a top of the fifth single would give the Hornets the lead. Roanoke would manage just one hit as Lynchburg took the opener, 1-0. Game two would see the Maroons race out to a 6-2 advantage. After the visitors tied the game in the fourth, Roanoke would take a one-run lead into the seventh. However, Lynchburg scored a pair to complete the comeback and take both ends of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) twin bill, 8-7.
  • Roanoke Splits Pair On The Road At Guilford

    After traveling to Greensboro earlier in the week to face the Pride, Roanoke was back in the Gate City to face Guilford in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) double header on Saturday afternoon. Roanoke would make quick work of Guilford in game one, picking up the 8-0, six inning, shutout. However, the Quakers would rally in the second game with three, fourth inning, runs to avoid the sweep and earn a split with the Maroons, 5-3.
  • Maroons Take One of Two From Greensboro

    For the third time this season, Roanoke was scheduled to travel to Greensboro to face the Pride in a non-conference double header. Roanoke would take a 4-3 lead into the late innings of the opener and after adding a run in the sixth, closed out the 5-3 win. In game two, the Maroons had a 1-0 lead but the Pride would score two in the bottom of the second and hold on throughout for the 2-1 win.
  • Battle Of Undefeated Teams Ends In Split

    Roanoke traveled to Emory & Henry for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) double header on Tuesday afternoon. The two ODAC rivals came into the matchup with undefeated conference records. The Maroons got a run in the top of the sixth and then exploded for four in the seventh for a 5-0 win in game one. Game two would see the Maroons race out to a 4-1 lead. However, the Wasps would score four unanswered runs to earn a split with Roanoke, 5-4.
  • Roanoke Cruises To Double Header Sweep

    Saturday afternoon would see the Roanoke College softball team welcome Eastern Mennonite to Salem for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) double header. The Maroons wasted little time, scoring seven first inning runs on their way to a, five inning, 15-2 conference win in game one. Game two would once again see Roanoke race out to an early lead, plating five runs in the first two innings of play on their way to a shutout win.

    The Roanoke College softball team hosted Shenandoah for their Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) 2021 opener. The Hornets raveled to Salem for a double header on Monday afternoon after having to reschedule from the weekend due to weather. The Maroons would record 11 hits to score eight runs in taking game one, 8-0. In the nightcap, Roanoke raced out to a 5-0 lead and hung on for the 5-2 win and a 2-0 start to ODAC play.
  • Maroons Sweep Knights In Double Header

    The Roanoke College softball team had to wait two days to play host to Southern Virginia as the original date was rained out. The Maroons came out on fire, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first to set the tone for a sweep of the Knights. Roanoke posted a pair of 11-0, five-inning wins to run their early season record to 6-2.
  • Roanoke Splits Road Games At Averett

    After starting the season 3-1 at the Mountain Mash tournament, the Roanoke College softball team traveled to Averett for a double header with the Cougars. The game would be scoreless after five, RC plated a run in the top of the sixth for a 1-0 advantage. In the seventh, RC added an insurance run as they picked up a 2-0 win in game one.
  • Roanoke Wraps Up Three Win Weekend

    After earning a split of their first two games, the Maroons looked to add to the win column when they played Adrian and Ferrum on day two of the Mountain Mash Tournament. A four-run top of the ninth propelled the Maroons to a second win over Adrian College in as many days. In the tournament finale, Roanoke mounted a three-run, bottom of the seventh, rally to best the Panthers, 5-4.
  • Roanoke Earns a Split on Day One

    Roanoke College kicked off the 2021 season by hosting the, six game, three team, Mountain Mash tournament at the Moyer Complex. The Maroons jumped out to an early lead on the visiting Bulldogs and held on for a 3-2 season opening win over Adrian.
  • ODAC Releases Plan For Spring Competition

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their plan for the return to competition for the Spring of 2021. Tuesday afternoon the league office announced that conference play is slotted to begin January 23rd.
