The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced their weekly honors on Monday afternoon. Three Maroons were named Players of the Week in two different sports. Kasey Draper was named ODAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week and a pair of swimmers swept the ODAC honors. Ethan Brewer was named conference Men's Swimmer of the Week while Susanna Price won the award on the women's side for the second time this season.
Over the weekend, the 20th ranked Roanoke College men's basketball team opened the 2021-22 season by hosting Eastern and Marietta in the Dick Leftwich Tip-Off Tournament. In an 85-58 win over Easter, Draper scored a game-high 25 points on 10-15 shooting in just 25 minutes of action. In the championship game against #3 Marietta, the junior went for 31 points, eight rebounds, and two steals in a 77-68 win. With 28 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, Draper was named All-Tournament and MVP.
The Roanoke swim team competed in a tri-meet with Lynchburg and Miligan on Saturday afternoon. Brewer would best the field in the 500 Freestyle when he touched in 4:50.72. In the 1000 Freestyle, the freshman earned a runner-up finish in a time of 10:01.77. Both times are top marks in the ODAC this season. His 1000 time is 15 seconds faster than any other swim in the conference while his 500 is 3.5 seconds faster than the next conference time.
This marks the second time Price has earned ODAC honors in her first year at Roanoke. Price had a pair of wins and a runner-up finish in her three individual events. She finished 1st in the 200 Freestyle (1:57.49) and picked up another win in the 500 Freestyle (5:15.44), whiling posting a runner-up time of 2:11.46 in the 200 Butterfly. Price anchored the winning 4x100 Freestyle Relay in 54.4, coming in at 3:40.00, which is fastest time in the ODAC. She currently holds ODAC top marks in the 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 1000 Freestyle and 200 Butterfly.
