Maroons Announce Venue Changes for Upcoming Games

SALEM, Va. – Roanoke College Athletic Director Scott Allison announced today that the remaining portion of the Roanoke College 2022-23 home men's and women's basketball schedule will be moved to the C. Homer Bast Center, located at 310 Market Street. In addition, Roanoke College's first-ever home men's volleyball match, scheduled for this coming Saturday, will be moved to Bast.

"During the bitterly cold Christmas weekend here in southwest Virginia, a pipe burst in a storage area in the Cregger Center," Allison said. "The water seeped underneath the western end of our arena floor. Moisture from the leak caused some damage, rendering that portion of our playing surface unsafe for basketball. At this time, the damage appears to be limited to the western end of the floor."

The Cregger Center will remain available for wrestling and men's volleyball. "The bulk of our 2022-23 men's volleyball home matches are scheduled for later this spring," Allison said. "We're hopeful to host those games in the Cregger Center. In addition, two Roanoke College wrestling meets, scheduled for Jan. 19 and Feb. 7, will remain in Cregger. Our plan at this time is to host those meets as scheduled in Cregger."

The C. Homer Bast Center served as the home of Roanoke College basketball from 1981-2016. Under legendary men's Coach Ed Green, the Maroons hosted the NCAA Division III Final Four there in 1984. In 1989, another legend, Coach Page Moir, came on board to continue the winning tradition. All in all, Roanoke men captured 10 ODAC Championships during that time. The Roanoke College women's basketball program also climbed to national heights in the Bast Center. Legendary women's Coach Susan Dunagan led the Maroons to a final eight appearance during the 1990-91 season. Coach Dunagan captured 13 ODAC Championships between 1985 and 2016.
