Roanoke jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and appeared in control early. Travalini scored off Davidson's triple to get on the board first. Graham Thacker (Forest, VA, Jefferson Forest)grounded out to second, but was enough to bring in the second run of the ballgame.

R-MC scored a run in both the second and fourth innings before taking the lead for good with a three-run fifth inning. The Yellow Jackets scored insurance runs in the following two innings to seal their fifth win of the season.

R-MC finished with 16 hits, led by Kevin Davis, going 4-for-5 with a double. Both Bryan Hannum and Jay Litchrer hit two doubles each.

The Maroons managed only five hits in the ballgame, with Moore, Laramore and Mark Manthe (Blacksburg, VA, Blacksburg)collecting the remaining singles. Travalini knocked his third double of the season to left center in the fifth inning.

Moore moved into third all-time in runs scored (69) and second in both games played (103) and games started (99) and is 16 hits and eight total bases shy of breaking the school-record in both categories. He already owns school-records in home runs (11) and doubles with 39.

Davidson, the record-holder in career walks (47), is now second in career triples (5) at Roanoke. He enters Tuesday's game needing one run to tie the school-record (78). The Salem product moved into fifth in career hits (99) and eighth in total bases (117).

Thacker, currently the team-leader in RBI, moved into third all-time in that category (61).

The Maroons will host Penn St.-Harrisburg on Tuesday, March 9 at Kiwanis Field. The men fell to PSU-Harrisonburg in 2008, 9-8 in 10 innings in their only meeting. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
