The season-opener for Roanoke Baseball will have to wait until next week as the Ferrum (2/8) and Greensboro (2/9) contests are postponed. A rescheduled date has yet to be determined.

 

The Maroons, picked ninth in the ODAC pre-season poll, lost their top-seven batting leaders and have only two seniors on the roster. Of their six juniors, three are transfers beginning their first year with the program. Roanoke will rely upon new faces across the diamond.  Mark Manthe (Blacksburg, VA, Blacksburg) (.263) is the top returning bat, while the pitching staff will look for Michael Haslam (Collegeville, PA, Springfield) (1-3, 27 K) and John Terlesky (Charlottesville, VA , Albermarle) (2-0, 30 K) to take over the reins.

 

Their first game of the season is now scheduled for Monday, Feb. 14 as they take on Southern Virginia in non-NCAA action. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Kiwanis Field.
